If you interested in creating a Google remarketing campaign, here’s a basic step by step guide to set one up, as well as how to exclude converting visitors.
1. If you don’t already have a AdWords Account, you will need to create one.
2. Now Create a display network only campaign.

3. Add Ad group & ads for your target audience, there’s no need to add keywords.
4. Under the campaigns tab select Shared Library / Audiences from the left navigation panel and click the New audience drop down box – select remarketing list.

6. Create your remarketing preference and save

7. The new remarketing setup should now show in the audience list, click [Tag] to get script to add to relevant pages on your site.

8. If you wish to exclude converting traffic from this list, set up another remarketing preference for converting visits (Step 4.) and follow the steps below to create a custom combination, if not jump to (Step 9.)
a. If you already have conversion tracking set up on the account these will show up as available [tag]‘s to add, which means you will not need to add script to the completion pages. If however you don’t already have conversion tracking set up, take the script from this remarketing preference and add to your conversion completion pages.
b. Now go back to (step 4.) and select New audience – Custom combination.

c. This will be your ad group target audience (non converting)
Click select audiences and select remarketing lists from the drop down box, add the site visit audience to “all these audiences.” Repeat this for the “none of these audiences” but add your converting audiences instead and save.

9. Under the campaigns tab select All online campaigns from the left navigation panel, and select the Ad group you created in (step 3.)
10. Go to the Audiences tab, if you cannot see it you need to click the arrow at the end of the tab range and click the Audiences (Display Network only) check box.
